SAN FRANCISCO-Those who follow @GlobeStcom onTwitter and @GlobeStLIVEmay have seen a post teasing the announcement a few days ago, butGlobeSt.com has learned that the Swig Co.’s22-story Mills Building at 220 Montgomery St. has receivedLEED Gold certification. The Mills Building isbelieved to be the oldest property in San Francisco to receive LEEDGold certification, according to a prepared statement.
Sacramento-based Leading Edge ConsultingServices advised the Swig Co. on the LEED certificationprocess. Totaling 626,000 square feet in a 10-story building andadjacent 22-story tower, the tower was completed in 1932.
The 10-story building fronting Montgomery Street was built in1892 and is the only surviving example of the Chicago School ofArchitecture in San Francisco, according to a prepared statement.It was also one of the few buildings downtown to survive the 1906earthquake.
