DETROIT-Michael Gerard, a longtime Detroit-areabroker, has been promoted to president of Los Angeles-basedCBRE’s Central Division. He will oversee ageographic region with more than 25 offices in nine states.

Gerard has served as the company’s chief learning officer sinceearly 2011. Andrea Lipton, corporate director of learning anddevelopment, has been promoted to VP and will run CBRE Universityand other educational programs.

Gerard has an automotive background, and led CBRE’s AutomotiveProperties Group, which expanded the programs that the companyoffers to auto dealers and others in the vehicle industry. He hadbeen EVP and managing director with Grubb &Ellis, but joined CBRE in 2005 as managing director of thecompany’s Detroit office. Throughout his career, he’s closed morethan 990 lease and sale transactions.
