GOLETA, CA-Last week, GlobeSt.com reported that R.D. Olson Developmentwould shortly be opening its fourth hotel since last November, andthis week the firm has done so. Yesterday, the development companyand Wynmark Co. soft-opened the 106-roomCourtyard by Marriott, located at 401Storke Rd. here, to serve market demand fromUniversity of California, Santa Barbara, and meetthe needs of local business, the region’s largest industrialcompanies and more than 80 local R&D firms.

The 68,000-square-foot hotel is located within one mile ofSanta Barbara Airport and Camino RealMarketplace. Girsh Park, a 25-acre sportspark that attracts 350,000 visitors annually, is adjacent to thehotel.

“Clearly, UCSB is a primary demand generator in Goleta, and theCourtyard concept is ideally suited to serve the many lodging needsemanating from the university community,” said BobOlson, CEO and founder of R.D. Olson Development, in aprepared statement. “At the same time, business travelers willvalue the functional design and interactive work areas found inthis latest generation of Courtyard by Marriott.”
