ROCKLIN, CA-The southeast quadrant of Sierra CollegeBlvd. and Interstate 80 here will begetting a major new retaildevelopment as Donahue Schriberbegins construction on Rocklin Crossings, a543,000-square-foot power center. Construction on sister centerRocklin Commons, which will be located directlyacross the I-80 interchange, will begin at a later date as a secondphase, with both centers slated to open in Spring 2014. The firmdeclined to reveal to GlobeSt.com the projected construction costsfor the 900,000-square-foot retail project.

Anchored by Walmart, Rocklin Crossings willcomplement Whitney Ranch, a new subdivision underconstruction in the northwest area of Rocklin. “This project hasbeen entitled since 2008, but we were not going to build until wehad strong leasing activity,” said David Mossman,Donahue Schriber’s EVP and CIO, in a prepared statement. “Now we’reready to roll.”

The new centers will add to the firm’s 19 neighborhood andcommunity centers here and in Natomas, Elk Grove and Roseville, CA,among others. “We not only have a vested interest in this market—webelieve in it,” said Mossman. “The city of Rocklin has been verysupportive. We think we have a great site and so do thetenants.”
