SAN DIEGO-The lecture halls at San Diego StateUniversity are getting a facelift, thanks to generalcontractor C.W. Driver, which has begunconstruction on a $73-million, 100,000-square-foot renovation and30,000-square-foot expansion project for the existing Storm andNasatir building complex at SDSU. The complex willoffer program space for eight academic departments includinganthropology, geography and foreign languages, among others.Completion is anticipated for January 2015.

Designed by LPA Inc. to achieve LEED Goldcertification, the complex will include new and upgraded classroomtechnologies, academic and research laboratories and facultyoffices for the College of Arts and Letters.Construction will be completed to meet current health andsafety-code standards and will also incorporate plans to correctdeferred maintenance issues and improve water and energyconservation. Additionally, the 30,000-square-foot classroombuilding will provide new space for the campus’ LanguageAcquisition Resources Center.
