LOS ANGELES-Toronto, ON-based commercial real estate servicesfirm Avison Young has acquired StarrpointCommercial Partners Inc., a full-service commercial realestate brokerage firm specializing in the Santa Monica submarkethere. Starrpoint has an emphasis on representing high-tech andmedia firms that have migrated to “Silicon Beach,” another term forthe Santa Monica market. The change in ownership brings industryveteran Randy Starr, founder and CEO ofStarrpoint, and Tim Dornan, Starrpoint’sprincipal, to Avison Young’s L.A.-area operations.

The newest American office marks Avison Young's third LosAngeles location and an additional step in the firm's aggressivegrowth and expansion strategy. Terms of the acquisition were notdisclosed. The purchase further expands Avison Young’s market andbusiness-line coverage in the L.A. area.

Effective immediately, Starrpoint’s current office at301 Arizona Ave., Suite 202, in Santa Monica, willbe rebranded as Avison Young. Also effective immediately, Starrbecomes a principal of Avison Young and will lead the company’sefforts to expand its presence and generate transaction volume inSilicon Beach. Dornan will be VP in the region to support thoseefforts and will be heavily involved in additional businessdevelopment.
