PHOENIX-With the Eurozone crisis, the upcoming election andquestions surrounding the Middle East, hospitality industryprofessionals have to consider how global events can effect theirbusiness. And the final day of the LodgingConference didn’t shy away from this vital topic. TheOwners and Lenders panel moderated by ALM Real Estate MediaGroup’s vice president and group publisher MichaelDesiato provided insight into what those at the top arethinking.

Alkesh Patel, 2012 chairman ofAAHOA/Trupadi Inc., is intrigued by India,although he admitted it can be complicated to work there. “Indiahas tremendous opportunity, he said, “the way the demand is there,the supply is coming in so slow, they’re not going to catch up forthe next 20 years. But it’s really tough in India for anyone to dothe projects unless you own capital.”

“In the next four years, we're going to be looking to be doingmore expansion in India,” he said.
