NEW YORK CITY-The Brooklyn Tech TriangleCoalition today designated a multi-disciplinary designteam, led by WXY Architecture + UrbanDesign, to create an area-wide master plan to fosterthe growth of the borough’s innovation economy,Crain's reported.

The coalition – led by the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, theDUMBO Improvement District and the Brooklyn Navy Yard DevelopmentCorporation – conducted an economic impact study of the tech sectorin Brooklyn earlier this year that found the sector employs 9,628people, generates $3.1 billion of economic output and is poised tonearly double over the next three years.

The planning team will recommend transportation andinfrastructure improvements, design “place-making” ideas, developreal estate and policy strategies to capture the rapid growth ofexisting tech companies and to attract additional technology-basedindustries, the planning team will recommend transportation andinfrastructure improvements. To ensure that the workforcedemands of these growing companies are met, the team will alsodevelop a workforce development strategy to train and place arearesidents.
