ALBANY-The latest deal struck between Gov. AndrewCuomo and a Native American tribe over gaming issues hassubstantially cut down the number of locations a casino could bebuilt upstate if a Constitutional Amendment this Novembereventually approves full-fledged casino gaming here.

The agreement announced on Thursday between the state and theSeneca Nation of Indians ends a dispute overcasino operations in western New York that net the state more than$400 million, according to the Wall Street Journal. The accord wasthe third in recent weeks between the state and a native AmericanIndian tribe that grants exclusivity to the respective tribes ontheir gaming operations.

With those deals in place, only the Catskills, the Saratogaregion and the Eastern Southern Tier would be eligible for newcasino development under Gov. Cuomo's proposed casino legislation.See story in the Wall Street Journal.
