WASHINGTON, DC—Fannie Mae has reported netincome of $5.3 billion for the first quarter of2014, its ninth consecutive quarterly profit.

The news follows a report from the Congressional BudgetOffice noting that the GSEs' profits have helped drive down the budgetdeficit in fiscal year 2014.

The GSE also reported comprehensive income of $5.7 billion forthe first quarter of 2014. The GSE will be paying the TreasuryDepartment $5.7 billion in dividends in June 2014, for a total of$126.8 billion since 2008. The GSE has had $116.1 billion in drawrequests in that time period.
