INDIANAPOLIS—Secure cloud computing services are a requirementfor many businesses, and officials from an Ann-Arbor, MI-basedprovider say the city of Indianapolis is underserved in thatrespect, and they plan to bring in the needed computinginfrastructure by September. Online Tech purchasedan existing data center at 505 W. Merrill St. near the Coltsstadium in downtown Indianapolis from MidcontinentIndependent System Operator, Inc., an energy company, andplans to upgrade the electrical systems along with other technicalenhancements.

The facility will deliver the company's secure, compliant cloudand colocation services for healthcare, financial services, retailand other companies in regulated industries. Online Tech will makea $10 million investment in the property, which includes thepurchase price and planned upgrades.

“The city's large population of healthcare companies must ensurethat all patient data remains safe and HIPAA compliant, which fitswell with our healthcare IT focus and expertise,” said MikeKlein, co-chief executive officer of Online Tech, in aprepared statement. He was not available by press time, butGlobeSt.com will provide an update, most likely early next week.“Indianapolis also has a growing community of financial, retail,e-commerce and software businesses. They will all benefit fromhaving an enterprise-class, secure, compliant cloud right inIndiana.”
