WHEATON, MD—A number of projects moving along the local pipelinehave been delivering lately, the latest beingWashington Property Co.'s Solaire Wheaton, aluxury apartment building in this submarket.

Its debut is part of what local officials hope will beWheaton's revitalization. Other projects nearbyinclude more than 1,000 new apartments, the new Safeway and Costco,and planned relocation of the Maryland National Capital Park andPlanning Commission. The project also points to the ongoing and farlarger trend of transit-oriented multifamily development.

Solaire Wheaton, located at 10914 Georgia Ave., was designed byAtlanta-based The Preston Partnership. RBS Citizens Bank providedproject financing; Clark Builders Group was the general contractor.Gables Residential is providing property management and leasingservices. The building features 7,000 square feet of amenity spaceand its specs meet the criteria for LEED Silver certification.
