NEW YORK CITY—Here's some good news to kick off the week: thecity's technology infrastructure is about to get a whole lotbetter.

At least, that's the promise that Mayor Bill de Blasio isexpected to make today, with continued offerings throughout theweek as he unveils a series of technology initiatives that the cityhas planned, according to Crain's New York Business. Theannouncements will be made in conjunction with Internet Week, aseven-day celebration around town of technology's impact onbusiness and culture.

Today's speech by the Mayor will address the technologyindustry's need for better broadband connectivity as well asefforts to get "broadband access as close to universal" as possiblefor residential customers, Crain's reports.
