NEW YORK CITY—CBRE has landed the agency for 55 Broadway,GlobeSt.com has learned EXCLUSIVELY. The real estate services firmwill turn the building into exactly what creative tenants on thespace hunt seek, in anticipation of technology, advertising, mediaand information firms being the most likely renters.

After all, that's the primary nature of prospective Downtownspace users today, Brad Gerla, EVP, tells GlobeSt.com. “That's whatwe're experiencing right now. Midtown tenants are looking Downtownand they're in that world.”

Led by Gerla, along with Peter Turchin, vice chairman, ZacharyFreeman, SVP and Jonathan Cope, first VP, CBRE will create twopre-built spaces with high ceilings and an exposed brickappearance. The firm also will add 20,000 square feet of retail tothe building, expand the lobby and upgrade elevators. Constructionis slated to start later this summer, or in the early fall, andtake about six months.
