JERSEY CITY, NJA new “boutique rental” building is opening in this city’s Powerhouse Arts District, with a name and special features focused on helping to build its arts community. The 119-unit “Art House” at 148 First St. is set in a neighborhood where the concept of supporting the arts has long been entrenched, but execution has been herky-jerky.

The Shuster Group developers say their new  12-story building embraces the arts community that exists and expands support for it. The building itself is designed to “encourage social interaction,” and provides display space for the work of local artists throughout the building.
