PLAYA VISTA, CA—KB Homes strategically focuseson coastal, land-constrained regions for residential development, according to Craig LeMessurier, KB Homes seniordirector of communications. In an earlier story, GlobeSt.com reported that KB Homesunveiled two new communities in Playa Vista, theAsher, a community with 36 three-story, detached homes, and the Skylar, a 93-unitcondominium complex.

KB Homes has been targeting the Playa Vista submarket because ofthe demand for new housing. “KB Home has been successfullytransitioning our California footprint to stronger coastallocations,” LeMessurier tells GlobeSt.com. “The company has astrong pipeline of new communities that have recently opened, orare slated to open later this year, in coastal markets from the BayArea to Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego. Theseland-constrained areas, like Playa Vista, are close toemployment centers where demand for new housingoutweighs supply.”

As reported earlier, this was not KB Homes first venture in thePlaya Vista market. KB Homes' earlierLEED-certified Primera Terradevelopment was very successful, selling out in 2012. “Weunderstand that buyers are attracted to this incredible location,”says LeMessurier. “Playa Vista is one of the Westside's mostdesirable zip codes and is already home to more than 6,500 L.A.residents. Playa Vista has become one of the crown jewels of LosAngeles' westside and we are very pleased to be a part of its nextevolution.” He also notes the importance of creating a community inthe area, not just building homes. Both of these developments offerample amenities that attract buyers, like swimming pools, fitnesscenters, parks and outdoor areas.
