DENVER—Design Workshop, an internationallandscape architecture, planning, and urban design firm with workspanning the globe, has opened five new office locations inBeijing, Chicago, Dubai, Houston andCalifornia and the launch of their new,international website.

Why the push for greater geographic diversity? Design Workshophas proven that being in the right location is very important. “Weare prepared to follow the work and locate in new geographies thatare the centers of the new economy. We will continually adapt tochanging times. As America continues to urbanize, this suggestsmore urban locations in addition to the resort locations that havetypically been our lifeblood,” noted chairman KurtCulbertson.

During the great recession, Design Workshop benefited greatlyfrom work in China. They are proceeding with the establishment of aWholly Foreign-Owned Enterprise (WFOE) which willprovide them with greater latitude to operate in the country. Theyare also publishing a book titled; International NewLandscapes, which documents some of their most recent work.The new office in Beijing will be led by principal JimMacRae and associate Fenglin Du.
