LOS ANGELES—“Multifamilies have benefited from the perfectstorm.” That is according to RealShare Apartments2014 panelist Ethan Penner, acommercial real estate expert known for foundingCBRE Capital Partners and as former presidentof Kennedy Wilson. “You have lowinterest rates, which helps all income-producing properties; hadgood access to capital and leverage; had the weight of the housingcrisis; had more people driven into rentals and out of housing; andyou also have a weak economy.”
For a whole host of reasons, such as those mentioned above, “weare in good shape on multifamilies,” Penner said. “I don't see thatchanging any time soon.”
Penner spoke on the opening Economics of Multifamily panel,moderated by Richard Hollowell, managing directorof CohnReznick Advisory Group.
