LOS ANGELES—The Ratkovich Co. has brought theoccupancy of its office building 5900Wilshire to 90%, signing 80,000 square feet in leasessince the start of the year. The building's new tenants include theAcademy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences,Premiere Digital Services and hospitality firmSBE, which signed a lease for 30,000 square feet in January ofthis year.

"Achieving a 90% leased rate at 5900 Wilshire is a significantachievement for the Ratkovich Co. Los Angeles is a highlycompetitive commercial real estate market and it's important for usto stand out as not only a leading commercial real estatedeveloper, but also as a leader in property management and tenantservices," Clare de Briere, COO at the RatkovishCo., tells GlobeSt.com. "Seeing this achievement at 5900 Wilshireonly deepens our commitment to ensure that we are continuing todevelop and manage forward-thinking properties so that businesseshave the facilities, amenities and freedom they need tothrive."

The boost in tenancy is particularly impressive considering thatthe Ratkovich Co. lost its namesake tenant Varietylate last year. The media company had been a major tenant in theproperty since 2008 and had naming rights on the building. Varietymoved to the Santa Monica offices of its parent companyPenske Business Media LLC. When signing its leasethis year, SBE inherited the naming rights to the building. "Wewere thrilled to bring sbe to 5900 Wilshire and reignite the LosAngeles skyline with their logo atop our property," says deBriere.
