CHICAGO—Life Spine Inc. recently purchased the58,400-square-foot former Duo-Fast Corp. buildingat 13951 S. Quality Drive in Huntley, IL. The $5.2 million saleclosed in August, and gives the property, which has been vacantsince 2000, a new shot at life. The seller was Glenview-basedIllinois Tool Works Inc., which acquired Duo-FastCorp in 1999.

Ned G. Frank, senior associate withColliers International | Chicago's industrialadvisory group, represented Life Spine, a spinal implant company,in the transaction. Life Spine was outgrowing its11,000-square-foot headquarters at 2401 W. Hassell Rd. in northwestsuburban Hoffman Estates, a building it has occupied since 2004when the company relocated from Indianapolis.

“The Hoffman Estates location limited Life Spine is so manyways, preventing them from hiring and growing at the pace theywanted to,” says Frank. “After spending three years touring theChicago area and also considering out of state locations, LifeSpine determined that it was critical to retain its employee baseand remain in Chicago's northwest suburbs.”
