NEW YORK CITY—Putting the stamp of a well-known institution onan emerging trend, Montefiore Health System, the UniversityHospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine has opened a12-story, 280,000-square-foot multi-specialty ambulatory carecenter—or a facility without beds—in the Bronx.

The new Hutchinson Campus, developed by Simone HealthcareDevelopment is one of the largest ambulatory surgery centers in theNew York metropolitan region.

According to Montefiore, medical advances are allowingprocedures traditionally performed in hospitals to be done on anambulatory basis. The new campus reflects this evolution in thedelivery of healthcare, offering new space for multidisciplinaryapproaches to care and integrating technology that allowsMontefiore to provide necessary treatments without the need forhospitalization.
