STAFFORD, VA—The first data center to pass DominionVirginia Power's Data Center Site Certification Program inStafford County has opened in the QuanticoCorporate Center.

The 12.5-acre site now has the chops to compete for the mostrigorous data center operations, local officials say. "All thefactors necessary to ensure successful site development are inplace: reliable electric infrastructure and low rates, proximity tolarge capacity water and sewer service, transportation and accessto a robust fiber-optic network," said Stafford CountyAdministrator Anthony J. Romanello.

Companies that helped push the certification across the finishline included SummitIG and the TimmonsGroup, he said, as well as Quantico Corporate Center'sdeveloper Silver Cos., with which the Countypartnered. SummitIG is a bandwidth infrastructure provider. TheTimmons Group is Dominion's third-party engineering partner, whichperformed the field analysis.
