BOULDER, CO—A new report from Navigant Researchanalyzes the global market for commercial buildingautomation systems (BASs), including global marketforecasts through 2023.

The devices and systems that control a building's lighting,maintain its climate, and ensure the security and safety of itsoccupants were, until fairly recently, rudimentary. Today, thesecommercial BASs are increasingly embedded with computing anddigital communications tools that have transformed theircapabilities to improve energy efficiency andoptimization and enhance occupant comfort and health. According toa new report from Navigant Research, global revenue for commercialBASs is expected to grow from $59.3 billionannually in 2013 to $86.7 billion in 2023.

“Although the market for commercial BASs is mature, it is notstagnant,” says Benjamin Freas, research analystwith Navigant Research. “While the global outlook for economicgrowth, and thus for new construction activity, remains weak anduneven, increased adoption and building retrofits focused onimproving energy efficiency and increasing occupant comfort areexpected to provide the BAS market with relatively stronggrowth.”
