PALO ALTO, CA—Construction is progressing on Stanford HealthCare's new $2 billion new hospital building, led by joint venturegeneral contractor Clark/McCarthy. The delivery ispart of the Stanford University Medical Center RenewalProject, which will bring facilities up to new seismicsafety standards, modernize facilities that are the foundation ofStanford's healthcare services and support the overall growth ofthe medical center.

The project includes rebuilding Stanford's healthcare facility;expanding Lucile Packard Children's HospitalStanford; replacing the school of medicine laboratories;renovating Hoover Pavilion, the original Palo Altohospital; and expanding the Hoover medical campus with constructionof the new neuroscience health center. Construction is slated for completion in2017.

The new complex will open itsdoors to patients in early 2018. The facility will add 824,000square feet or 368 private rooms to the existing hospital, andexpand intensive care and emergency services. It will also featurean enlarged Level I trauma center and an emergency department morethan twice the size of the current one.
