CARLSBAD, CA—ViaSat, Inc. has purchased23 acres off El Camino Road and Gateway Road inCarlsbad, from Irvine-based HCP, Inc. with theintention of developing a global headquarters.

Cushman & Wakefield, handled both sides ofthe deal, and financial details of the transaction were notdisclosed. ViaSat was represented by Cushman & Wakefieldexecutive managing director Rick Reeder andmanaging director Tom van Betten, while Cushman& Wakefield managing directors Aric Starck andDennis Visser represented HCP.

ViaSat is a broadband services and technology company providinginternet service to stream high-bandwidth media and contentglobally, servicing the consumer, commercial and governmentsectors. The company operates worldwide with more than 3,700employees.
