CAMBRIDGE, MA—The biomedical and bioscience industries here areconstantly evolving and changing, expanding and contractingoperations and sometimes changing addresses. Perfect examples ofthe tumultuous nature of this sector can be found in the latestnews from local firms Unum Therapeutics andMetabolix Inc.

Unum Therapeutics opened its new larger headquarters here thisweek to facilitate its growth plans, while Metabolix says it willsoon move out of Cambridge to northern suburb Woburn in order tofacilitate its own expansion initiatives.

A host of state and local officials were on hand on Tuesday forthe ribbon cutting for Unum Therapeutics' new 33,000-square-footoffice and laboratory headquarters space at 200 CambridgePark Drive. The space was designed to help facilitateUnum's anticipated growth to more than 80 employees in the nearfuture, company officials state.
