JURUPA VALLEY, CA—Big businesses are looking to the InlandEmpire for use not now, but in the future. Proof of this is inCostco Wholesale Corp.'s latest purchase. Theconsumer wholesaler has acquired a leased-investment property inJurupa Valley, CA, with plans to eventually use the site as aregional distribution center.

Located at 11280 Riverside Dr. in the Mira Loma section of thecity, the building totals 527,500 square feet and is currentlyoccupied by Quik Set, manufacturer and distributorof quick-setting concrete and other construction materials. Thecompany currently has 19 months remaining on its current lease withan option for another five years.

Colliers International completed negotiations on the $65.62million acquisition. "This was a perfect strategic fit for Costcosince it is adjacent to a Costco Warehouse store and administrativeoffices," says the firm's SVP Mark Zorn, whorepresented Costco in the acquisition. "Costco is looking to thefuture and no matter when Quik Set may vacate the building, Costcowill convert it into a class A logistics center."
