Theresa Burian, known professionally as Terry Burian Shea, serves as VP and Senior Counsel at Phillips Edison & Company, where she established and leads the firm's Development Legal function. In 2025, Burian led legal reviews for 98 feasibility studies and supported 95 separate matters across 81 properties, including negotiating 17 ground leases.

She standardized critical deal workflows by implementing 12 new PECO-specific form documents and developed four internal AI and workflow automation projects. Her leadership extends to organizational training, where she conducted 21 formal sessions to strengthen the firm’s collective development knowledge.

Burian is a Fellow of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers and is deeply committed to service. After being diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer in 2019, she became a prominent athlete and fundraiser for the DONNA Foundation, dedicating each mile of her runs to those facing the disease.

She also participates in a five-year Mayo Clinic clinical trial for a vaccine to reduce breast cancer recurrence, contributing to vital public health knowledge. Burian’s influence is felt across the organization because she leads with purpose and elevates those around her.
