Bliss Edwards, executive vice president – Canada for SmartStop Self Storage REIT, has been instrumental in positioning the firm as the third-largest self-storage company in Canada. Edwards oversaw the aggregation of a 50-property Canadian portfolio totaling approximately 4.3 million rentable square feet. Her strategic financial acumen was on full display in 2025 as she supported SmartStop’s IPO on the New York Stock Exchange and led the issuance of C$700 million in Maple Bonds. The initial C$500 million bond transaction achieved the lowest spread on a three-year fixed-rate term in the Canadian real estate sector in a decade. Despite navigating rising construction costs and complex municipal regulations, Edwards successfully opened the firm's 40th Canadian location in 2025. Outside of her professional achievements, she serves on the board of the Women’s Council of the Self Storage Association and is a commodore for the Mississauga Canoe Club.
