Cate McCormack, Vice President and General Manager at Transwestern, manages the iconic 920,513 sq. ft. Civic Opera Building in Chicago. With 28 years of asset management experience, McCormack has become an expert in navigating the complexities of properties in receivership, establishing a blueprint that the firm now applies to other distressed assets in its portfolio. Her leadership was recently recognized with Property Manager of the Year honors at both the Transwestern Midwest Awards and the 2025 Illinois REjournals Awards. In 2025, McCormack successfully supported the signing of 24 leases totaling over 154,000 sq. ft., including major deals with Workbox and AJ Capital Partners. She also oversaw more than 100,000 sq. ft. of tenant improvements and managed complex capital initiatives involving fire life-safety, façade repairs, and EPA compliance. Beyond her flagship property, McCormack serves as a group manager for receivership buildings, coordinating operational transitions for sites like 10 S. LaSalle. A LEED Green Associate and BOMA TOBY judge, she is also deeply committed to social responsibility, volunteering regularly with Catholic Charities and the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
