Val Achtemeier stands at the pinnacle of the commercial real estate finance sector, having led debt transactions totaling more than $70 billion over a 35-year career. As a Vice Chairman at CBRE, Achtemeier’s expertise is particularly concentrated in the industrial and logistics sectors, where she recently orchestrated a $221 million debt placement for a national industrial portfolio. She is a senior member of the firm’s National Partners platform, which currently ranks number one in market share for the industrial sector, with a total volume of approximately $246 billion over 15 years.

Beyond her production prowess, Achtemeier is recognized for her ability to pivot strategy and structure creative solutions amid extreme volatility in the capital markets. She advises clients throughout the full lifecycle of a transaction—from early-stage capital planning to complex lender negotiations—leveraging deep relationships with global banks, life companies, and debt funds.

Her influence is further amplified by her visibility as a mentor and advocate; she has spent over 30 years sourcing internships and advising mid-level female professionals to foster inclusion in the industry. Additionally, she serves as the Chair of the City of Hope’s Real Estate Industry group, which has successfully raised over $30 million for cancer research.
