Governor Opens Western Span of $3.9B Mario M. Cuomo Bridge

TARRYTOWN, NY—The $3.98-billion project to replace the aging Tappan Zee Bridge here has reached a significant milestone—the impending opening of the western span of the new Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge.

More than 800 business, organized labor and political leaders gathered on Thursday for a pre-opening event staged on the new western span. The event was held a day before the newly named Governor Mario M. Cuomo Bridge, which is scheduled to partially open to four lanes of Rockland County-bound traffic overnight tonight ( Friday, August 25).
