Veritas, a storage management software company based in MountainView, CA, is currently leasing approximately 450,000-sf of space inMountain View and Sunnyvale while it waits for its new 425,000-sfheadquarters on Ellis Street, which it expects to be online in June2001. The first phase of Veritas' McCarthy Ranch property, whichcan hold another one million sf of space, is slated forground-breaking later this year or early next and completion inspring 2002.

Over the past two years, the Irvine Co. acquired 68 acres ofMcCarthy Ranch and is building just over one million sf of spacefor tenant Cisco Systems. The property was originally planned for aresidential development, but plans were scrapped in May 1998because the site was too close to a sludge pond.
