The pension fund bought the building, which is at 1380 S. Sanderson Ave., from Newport Federal. Voit Commercial brokers Alan Pekarcik, Dan Vittone and Rob Mitchell represented the seller, while Mitch Zehner and Louis Tomaselli, also of Voit, represented the buyer.

Zehner says the property is well-suited for use as a school because it previously served as a trade school and has the extra parking required for such a use. Vittone tells GlobeSt.com that the office building formerly served as a school for National Education Corp.

He says the two-story building was constructed in 1985 and will represent an expansion for the pension fund, which also operates a school in Los Angeles.
