Pennacchia: We marketed PictometryIntelligent Images primarily to county, state and federalgovernment users. But they've become a primary tool for propertyassessment and GIS professionals and remain a looked-to resourcefor 9-1-1 professionals across the country. From our presence inthese areas, we've earned the reputation as the provider of"professional grade" working images, not just pretty pictures. As aresult, commercial industries of all kinds, from insurance toutilities to web-based businesses and real estate, are turning toPictometry in new ways every day.

GlobeSt.com: How do the images you offerdiffer from other aerial photography applications, including GoogleEarth?

Pennacchia: Pictometry oblique imagesare different in that they are captured at an angle as opposed totraditional orthogonal images, which are taken directly overhead.This enables users to see around a property or location. Pictometryimages are also high resolution and geo-referenced, which enableusers to see full detail of a property and have the ability tomeasure distance, height, elevation pitch and more--directly onimagery. All of these attributes align Pictometry to providemeaningful return on investment for users, making it possible forthem to work better, faster and smarter.

GlobeSt.com: Pictometry has partnershiparrangements with a number of companies. What real estate relatedorganizations or firms are among them?

Pennacchia: Pictometry has thepotential to make better solutions possible in countlessindustries. Relative to the real estate industry, we are extremelyexcited about a project that has been spearheaded by CGICommunications of Rochester which uses Pictometry imagery.Essentially, the project they've designed targets residential realestate professionals across the country. LocalScope is aNeighborhood Navigator, combining Pictometry's imagery with layersof community information videos, real estate listings and localhighlights, such as schools, libraries and parks. All these toolsare combined into an agent-branded interface that individualRealtors can send out to prospective homebuyers and sellers. Theunique nature of the tools ensures that it will be forwarded on tofriends and family, thus expanding virally.

Pennacchia: Pictometry has more than50 systems flying constantly in the US. Our scalability and ourefficiency is enough to update all our images regularly.

Pennacchia: In summary, Pictometry'stwo key attributes translate into numerous benefits for users. The second attribute of Pictometry is a patented measuringcapability, which enables users to measure distance, height,elevation, pitch and more--directly on imagery. Furthermore, realtors can use Pictometry tomeasure lot sizes, square footage, distance from other locations ina surrounding area, and even measure the landscaping.
