The Baton Rouge Business Report says that earlier this year the Louisiana Gaming Control Board gave the Las Vegas, NV entertainment giant until October to begin work on Sugarcane Bay after the company requested a delay due to the poor credit markets. The Associated Press reports a spokeswoman for L'Auberge du Lac said credit markets are starting to ease up. She added that the piling pole production contract, worth $6 million, and pile driving contracts would go to local companies.

Sugarcane Bay will have a 400-room hotel, a one-story casino riverboat, restaurant and retail outlets and a pool. Read the Business Report article here, and access the Associated Press story here.
