A spokesman with the REIT says specific details about the transaction could not be discussed until closing. He tells GlobeSt.com that this will be Healthcare Trust's first acquisition in Spartanburg. The asset is adjacent to the campus of Mary Black Memorial Hospital on Skyline Drive.
The three-year-old medical office building is 65% leased on a long-term basis to the Mary Black Health System. The health system is part of Brentwood, TN-based Community Health System, and operates approximately 209 acute licensed beds and has approximately 286 active physicians on staff.
"This acquisition allows us to continue the growth we started in the South Carolina marketplace in September with a strategically located on-campus property that has significant tenant occupancy," commented Mark D. Engstrom, the REIT's Executive Vice President of Acquisitions in a statement about the transaction.
