SAN BERNARDINO, CA-Mary Jane Olhasso, the former director ofeconomic development for the City of Ontario, has been namedeconomic development agency administrator for the County of SanBernardino. Olhasso succeeds Mark Dowling, who resigned from thecounty post in April.


In her new post, Olhasso oversees four county departmentsencompassing employing more than 200 workers. The agencydepartments include redevelopment, workforce development, housingand community development and economic development.


Olhasso, who was economic development director for Ontario for12 years, says that in her new position, the departments that sheoversees, “play an important role in ensuring this region iswell-positioned to support expected resident and businessgrowth.”


San Bernardino County administrative officer Greg Devereaux, whoworked with Olhasso in his former position as Ontario city manager,says that in her new role, she will help the county to realize itsvision of ensuring that San Bernardino County is a place wherebusinesses can thrive. “The city is a corporation. If businessesare open and making money, the city is making money,” Devereauxsaid. He noted that, before joining the county, Olhasso builtsignificant economic development success for the City of Ontario,administering Ontario’s targeted marketing strategy, businessliaison, business retention and technical assistance programs.
