BALTIMORE- Home Properties Inc., a New York-based apartment real estate investment trust, has bought Charleston Place, an 858-unit apartment complex in Ellicott City, for $103 million.

The apartment complex, which is almost 97% occupied, contains single- and double-bedroom apartments, which are rented out for $1,073 per month. The firm is planning to invest about $6.8 million into the building in order to repair kitchens and bathrooms, and perform other maintenance work to improve the property.
