The year-end is fast approaching and businesses are polishing uptheir plans for 2011 in anticipation of better times (we can onlyhope). However, rarely do professionals approach their careers inthe same well-planned and thoughtful manner as businesses do.December is a good time to reflect on one’s own career goals andobjectives. Use the month to plan ahead; update the three-year oldresume, commit to networking in the new year (be out there),evaluate where you stand with your current employer and beconstructively aggressive about expanding your role and taking onmore responsibility. Hire a career coach to facilitate yourplanning process and to have a sounding-board. And I still likeStephen Covey’s “7 Habits of Highly Effective People.” Pick-up acopy, it’s a great road map to personal effectiveness. Heck, it’sonly your career!
