WASHINGTON, DC-Washington City Paper has reported that Save-A-Lot has leased 12,000 square feet of space on Rhode Island Avenue NE. The discount grocery chain will take the former Safeway space that has been vacant for nearly two years.

The property is owned by B&R Associates. Since Save-A-Lot has taken only a portion of the store, the landlord is seeking another retailer to occupy the remaining space. The discount chain is expecting to open the store by late spring or early summer. For the full story, go to Washington Business Journal .
