Miss Piggy

I marveled last week at the ruckus that ensued after Goldman Sachs executive Gregory Smith wrote an Op Ed in The New York Times bashing the iconic bank and its executive team for calling clients Muppets! What's most damaging is that two weeks after the news broke I did a Google search of "Greg Smith" and "Goldman Sachs" and it produced more than 3.5 million hits. That's why CEO Lloyd Blankfein is not happy at all. Goldman is now globally embarrassed and incapable of reversing the negative tide. The power of the Internet and social media to both disseminate and virally expand a story draws everyone into the net and that's dangerous territory for even the most innocent individuals or companies.
