NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE, UK-Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) has announced the submission of a planning application to renovate Eldon Square's Northumberland Street entrance. The proposal also includes the remodeling of two adjacent retail units and construction of an extended roof canopy atop the new entrance.

This submission comes on the heels of a GBP 22 million investment plan announced by co-owners CSC and Newcastle City Council in December 2011 to revamp Eldon Square, a 1.35-million-square-foot shopping center housing 151 stores. For the full story, go to Europe Real Estate .
