BALTIMORE-The Baltimore Development Corp. issued a request for proposals on Tuesday for a consultant to develop a strategic plan for the city's economic development efforts.

The agency noted in the RFP that the plan must focus on assessing the city's economic conditions, developing steps to improve the economy, and creating metrics that will track job growth and progress in the city, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.

“I think we're going into this with open ears and open eyes,” says BDC President Brenda McKenzie said. “Quite candidly, a lot has been said about what are the growth industries in Baltimore. But it's important for us to get a Baltimore-centric foundation.”

Proposals are due by June 10. The Baltimore Development Corp. hopes to select the winning consultant by June 28. See story in the Baltimore Business Journal.
