PHILADELPHIA-Today was the opening for the $100-million, 34-story luxury apartment building at 2116 Chestnut St. here. Tenants began moving into rental units in the first 14 floors of the building.

Ground was broken 16 months ago for the 321-unit building that is the first project to be built in the city by John Buck Co. of Chicago, which acquired the property in October 2001 and developed the property in partnership with the Indure Fund, according to the Inquirer. John Buck, chairman and CEO of John Buck Co., says that 100 units have been leased through its pre-leasing campaign. Construction on 2116 Chestnut will be completed in about four to six weeks.

The property sits on the former site of the Sidney Hillman Medical Center of the Male Apparel Industry Union. John Buck Co. is also building a five-story replacement at Van Pelt and Sansom streets as part of the agreement when it acquired the Chestnut Street property. See story in The Inquirer.
