ORLANDO-Universal Orlando has paid $30.9 million for more than 50 acres of land located under and around the Wet 'n Wild water park here.

The theme park, now owned by Comcast Corp., has been rapidly expanding of late. However, company officials would not say whether it has any plans to expand the Wet n' Wild park, which it already owned prior to the purchase, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

"We are pleased with Wet 'n Wild as a component of our business, and this purchase was a natural step for us," says Universal spokesman Tom Schroder. "Beyond that, we don't discuss our business transactions."

Orange County records show that Universal bought eight parcels from Southwest Land Co. of Newport Beach, CA. In addition to the land under the water park, the park's administration building and parking lot, the sale also includes parcels that are currently vacant or being used for warehouses.
