RALEIGH, NC-Unable to find suitable space in the Triad to accommodate its expansion, insurer UnitedHealthcare will be adding more jobs than anticipated here.
The Minnetonka, MN-based insurer announced plans earlier this year that it would be adding 573 employees in the Carolinas. However, the firm is changing plans on where those new workers will be based, according to The Business Journal.
In discussing the company's Greensboro headquarters, David Pettitt, director of member services for UnitedHealthcare says, “We were out of space. The inn is full. The Raleigh location was the best choice.”
UnitedHealthcare has added 267 new workers in Greensboro in customer service and to claims processing, with plans to add up to 90 more workers by the end of this year. In addition, approximately 85 workers will be hired by October to staff the Raleigh call center with customer service and claims processing representatives that could eventually house up to 200 workers.
