HILLSBOROUGH, NC-UNC Health Care has opened the first 60,000-square-foot building at its hospital campus currently under construction here.

The new medical office building will include imaging, laboratory, pharmacy and medical and surgical oncology for the Chapel Hill-based health care provider. Other services at the three-story building will be dermatology, gastrointestinal medicine, ob-gyn, urogynecology and urology. The building will also host a surgical procedure suite and a skin cancer center, according to The Business Journal.

Construction began in the spring of 2011 on the $200-milion project. A “topping out” ceremony was held this past May for the main hospital building, which is projected to be finished in July 2015. The new campus, when finished, will feature 68 patient beds, radiology units and an emergency department. The hospital campus is expected to employ approximately 500 workers.
