MILWAUKEE-Rishi Tea's proposal to purchase a nearly four-acre site in Menomonee Valley was approved in a unanimous vote on Thursday by the city's Redevelopment Authority.

The proposal before the authority calls for Rishi Tea to build a 48,000-square-foot office and manufacturing facility on South 33rd Court that would replace its current 38,000-square-foot headquarters at 427 E. Stewart St.

"We're more than completely out of room," says Rishi Tea co-owner Benjamin Harrison. "We're bursting at the seams and storing a lot of product off-site. ... Quite simply, we are out of space, and we need to grow."

He adds the company has not finalized its plans for the Menomonee Valley location but is much more committed to it than to other locations, according to the Milwaukee Business Journal.

In what was termed the “best case scenario, the firm hopes to break ground on the new headquarters building in September or October of this year. See story in the Milwaukee Business Journal.
