PHILADELPHIA-Independence Blue Cross has extended its more than 800,000-square-foot lease at the 1901 Market Street building in Center City.
The insurance company extended its lease until 2033 for the entire 45-story, 800,695-square-foot building owned by Piedmont Office Realty Trust.
Piedmont acquired the property 10 years ago for $174 million and is reportedly looking to put the tower building on the market for sale.
Tom Whitworth of Northmarq Advisors represented IBC in the deal. George Wells, senior vice president at Piedmont, handled negotiations on behalf of the building owner. See story in the Philadelphia Business Journal.
